About the event

Manuscript Maps of Devon – with Todd Gray, Author & Historian.

Dr Todd Gray was born in New England, USA and first visited Devon on a school trip in 1973. After his first degree in London he started studying for a PhD at Exeter University in 1984. He has devoted his working career to the study of Devon’s history. His passion for his adopted county is evident through his many publications and in his lectures. Recent discoveries of previously unknown maps of Barnstaple and Exeter remind us of the extraordinary number we have of Devon. Maps were created for a variety of reasons and often offer the first surviving depiction of individual buildings. In this lecture Todd Gray will explore some of the notable examples and introduce others of places across the county.
