Outdoor walk – Shops & Shopkeepers of Calstock with member Jill Lane. 

Jill Lane in her book Calstock Shops & Shopkeepers tells the story of the many shops in Calstock and the families who ran them from the mid-19th century when Calstock was a busy river port with barges taking away granite and bricks and bringing in timber, coal and limestone. Pleasure boats came up from Plymouth, offloading passengers for cream teas. Calstock was a bustling town in those days and the book takes the reader along the streets telling of all the shops there were in the 19th century and into the 20th.
